Retract a mistake bid
Ebay I have made a couple mistakes in the past 15 years bidding but this week I have made 2 where I use my phone to do ebay and when I bid it did not put my space in the . So I have bid ridiculous amounts on cards. You really should put in a option where ME the person that made the mistake can go in and retract it myself and put the reason of why I'm doing it because some sellers don't see our message to do it and it doesn't mess auction up unless there's like let's say 2 or 3 min. To go. Thanks Jonathan

·1 year agoA typo in entering the bid amount is the ONLY bidder error that may be corrected by retracting the bid. You must rebid the correct amount (the amount you intended to type in the first place) immediately after the retraction goes through. There are time limits (12 hours before the scheduled auction end or 1 hour after the bid was placed, whichever is later, but in no case later than the actual end of the auction) so don't delay.

But if it is for an auction in one of the trading card categories, no retractions are allowed at any time for any reason (epidemic of dishonest buyers using retractions to engage in "bid shielding" a few years ago). In those categories it is up to the seller to cancel or not (s/he cannot give you permission to retract).

Making a typographical error is a legitimate reason for retracting your bid, but you must rebid with the correct amount.
