The amount a person receiving Social Security can earn depends on their age and the type of benefits they receive:

Full retirement age
Once someone reaches full retirement age, there is no limit to how much they can earn while receiving full Social Security benefits.
Before full retirement age
If someone claims Social Security benefits before reaching full retirement age, their benefits may be temporarily reduced if they earn more than a yearly earnings limit. In 2023, the earnings limit was $56,520 for the calendar year in which someone reaches full retirement age.
SSDI
As of 2024, someone receiving SSDI benefits may stop receiving them if they earn more than $1,550 per month.
SSI
