Required Instant Auto Pay no longer sllowing pay in 4 option?
So I learned the hard way on this Monday morning that an offer I put in on Friday evening and an offer I put in on Saturday (one totaled with shipping $150 the other was approximately $90 well over $200 combined) --that I intended if approved to obviously go through the pay in 4 option with PayPal-- I'm now finding out has already both been tapped out of my PayPal which is my reg. Bank acct (didn't realize the offers were even accepted had to go into my purchase history) without me being allowed to even ask for the pay in 4 option!!! I've already spoken with PayPal and they said that this has nothing to do with them that without eBay allowing people to manually check out that's the only way PayPal can process a pay in 4 request. So it's not something we can automatically put on our account as every time they are processing a payment we want that option over $30.... it's just not something they do. So essentially be aware that if you're using the make an offer option on items that are most likely too expensive for you to bid on right away or accept to buy it now price but most likely is still a decent amount of money for whatever offer you're putting in......just know that you will be expected to pay that dollar amount in full immediately with no way to change your mind and pick a paypal credit card over bank acct or the monthly option payment on items over $1000 or the pay in 4. If you pick paypal it'll be whatever your default payment item is with them and this is because of eBay not because of PayPal. I highly doubt this is something ebay is going to look into anytime soon because it's not something that's negatively affecting them but if you're like me I am now no longer going to be making offers on anything that's a higher dollar amount. I mean I literally do pay in 4 for almost everything that I buy it's the reason why I've been able to make more online payments and purchases. Its helped thru inflation But eBay you just lost a lot of my business. Because a lot of the times that I was making offers it was on items that I was paying three digits for!! I was just trying to save a little bit of money so instead of paying $300 for something I was asking to pay $200. Still decent money! But because of eBay just trying to do things the easy way if other people think like me, they will be losing business for their sellers because I'm done with that option if the item is too expensive I will not be making any offers anytime soon. The I saw another comment that they're doing this because too many people that have accepted offers then had buyers that backed out. Well then in that case educate the sellers more that there's an option that if somebody has strikes on them they can click the option that those people are not allowed to bid or make offers on their items. And if it happens enough I'm sure there's something on eBays and they can monitor. Or if somebody does it more than once, they're no longer able to make offers for a certain amount of time? It's only hurting those of us that want to engage in transactions but need that little cushion that PayPal was willing to give us with the pay in 4 option that Ebay opted into participating in!!! Thanks for taking it away from us EBAY!.... looks like Etsy is getting more of my business moving forward!!!

·2 years agoI had to use autopay on a few recent offers, and found that I could change my payment method on the autopay-checkout screen, and could select PayPal credit after logging in to PayPal at eBay's autopay-checkout.
However, in my case, I had originally set up my account to require a manual login to PayPal each time. I think this new method is going to allow subsequent offers to proceed without going through that extra login step (unless I close my browser or clear cookies).
I got to the left screen by clicking "change" on the payment method on the autopay-checkout screen. The right screen is after logging into PayPal and changing my default payment method. Did you have to sign up for PayPal credit to get the "pay in four" option?
