i had requested a cancellation of and order 2 hours after i requested the item. 14 hours later the cancellation was denied and the item was shipped instead. what should i do?

Sellers are not required to cancel orders, even if you request it quickly. Some are sending orders to suppliers and cannot cancel, others just choose not to cancel even when it might be in their best interest to accept it. If the seller offers returns, you can request a return once you receive the item.
