Request to return SOLD ITEMS by the SELLER!!!
When a Buyer claims an item does not match the description or the pictures obviously the seller has no say in the matter. I just got off the phone with ebay support and was told that ebay would contact the seller within 3 days of a return request and allow the seller to provide their side of the story. I've been selling for over 23 years on ebay and have NEVER received such a courtesy!! I have had very few request for returns but when they use this Reason it really upsets me. I'm assuming that now days THE BUYER IS ALWAYS RIGHT NO MATTER WHAT. For you old time sellers on ebay you know it was not that way in the early years.

This has been the policy of most retailers since the early 1900s.
What you were told by eBay support is unfortunately inaccurate. eBay does not contact the seller on day 3 to hear his side of the story. What will happen is that if you don't accept the return or refund within 3 days, when the buyer asks eBay to step in on the return case, eBay will refund the buyer out of your funds and close the case in the buyer's favor. You can of course appeal the decision, but that rarely is reversed.
After the fact, you have the opportunity to use the report buyer link, but it won't change the outcome of the case. What it will do is get it on record so that if the buyer abuses the return policy multiple times, he may lose his return privileges.
I'm not sure how far back you consider to be the old days, but eBay has always "encouraged" sellers to take care of their buyers when they are unhappy since I became a member. Since that is my own policy, I've never had a problem with that. I want my buyers to be happy with their purchases from me.
