Reporting Potential Fraudulent Buyer
Summary: nathanw reported a potential fraud involving their attempt to sell crystal sound bowls. A supposed buyer claimed to purchase the items, overpaid for shipping, and instructed nathanw to ship them. An official-looking email confirmed the purchase, but eBay showed no record of the sale, leading to suspicion of fraud. The post includes the contact details and address provided by the alleged buyer for reference and warning.
I recently posted a set of crystal sound bowls for sale. I was contacted by a potential buyer looking to buy the bowls. Once they were satisfied with our communication and the legitimacy of the item, the reported to me that they purchased the bowls for the price quoted plus $300 for shipping, which is higher than the quoted amount on the listing.
They informed me of an email sent to me informing me of the purchase and to begin shipping procedures. Ironically, the email sent to me was so legit-looking that it actually has precautionary and fraud-warning language in the email. But, when I examined further, I noticed that EBay shows no record or acknowledgment of the sale in any way.
