Reporting an Item
I came across an item on eBay that matched the description of something I was looking for, but the pictures were very different, extremely obviously different. So I asked the seller for clarification and they said they knew it was wrong but weren't going to change it. So I reported it as an item that didn't match the description. The report was automatically closed as "no violation found". What can I do? Live chat support isn't available.

Mentor1 year agoeBay does not have enough experts in every possible type of item to be able to compare listing pictures and and descriptions to check if they match or not, so eBay does not perform such checks.
It is up to sellers to make sure listing descriptions and pictures are correct; if not a buyer can return the item at the seller's expense for a full refund, so it is in the seller's interest to make sure that there is no confusion.
Sellers that do not care about disappointing their buyers tend not to sell on eBay for very long.
