report counterfeit GE water filters
How do I report GE water filters that are mock-offs that several ebay sellers are listing? I searched the website and find no way to do this and ebay needs to remove or admonish these dishonest sellers.

Mentor2 years agoOn the right side of every listing, is a REPORT ITEM link. Located just above the item number.

OP2 years agoThere are many, many of these listing that have "no chip" printed over the photos by the seller. My guess is that a certain Asian (China) company made fake labels and pasted them over compatible filters.

Mentor2 years agoAre they listed as compatibles or as real GE filters? They can sell compatibles as long as they are otherwise in no way infringing on any GE rights and follow specific ebay guidelines. Otherwise, GE can have the items removed immediately. Best you can do is use the report button on the listing to alert ebay to take a look, but only the rights owner can take action to have them removed.
What is an Item Number you think is a problem?

OP2 years agoThank you for your reply. I'm referring to what's listed and pictured as GE XWFE refrigerator water filters. They must have the RFID chip behind the label or they will not work. No water will be dispensed nor ice -- the E refers to electronic, I believe, and if someone prints "No Chip" over the photo it is a knock-off bc they cannot function without the chip.
There are many listings that show these "GE" filters without the chip -- GE makes the XWF filters without the chip, but XWFE filters must contain the chip to work.

Mentor2 years agoBut are they actual GE brand filters, or are they just misleading you into thinking they are?
Post the Item Number of one of these listings so we can take a look.

OP2 years agoSure, the following are some item numbers, but there are many more. Yes, the label says they're GE XWFE filters, but so do fake Chinese manufactured Gucci bags for example. Obviously they're using or manufacturing cheap or getting the same unchipped filters and wrapping the labels around them. The chip is under the label and cannot be seen. However, no water will be dispersed from the refrigerator or icemaker if there's no chip to read. This is something that Ebay should outlaw rather than continue to allow sellers to get away with such deception. These are just a very few of the ones selling unchipped filters. Some of them say, don't worry, you can use your old chip. That's very misleading bc it requires someone very skilled in electronics to remove the chip without damaging it and replacing it on a different non-chipped filter.
