Report a seller not following eBay reputation standards
A seller sells very poor quality automotive products claiming they meet OEM standards. They do NOT meet those standards! They also have very poor customer service and an "F" rating with the BBB. How do I get eBay to investigate their relationship with this seller?

If you received an item that is not as described, you have up to 30 days to open a return using the option next to the transaction in your Purchase History. The seller will have 3 business days to provide a prepaid return shipping label or else refund. If he does neither, go back to the case on day 4 and use the option to ask eBay to step in. They will force the refund.

OP2 years agoThe product is a rack and pinion steering mechanism. It is a $200 part and $600 to install it. I have had 2 so far. The 1st one lasted less than 3 months and the second one lasted 6 months. All I asked for was a refund since I don't trust their quality. They basically told me to pound sand. That's when I found out what a terrible company they are and have an "F" BBB rating. I would like eBay to look at them and decide if they want to continue the relationship. I have not found a way to do that.

eBay takes action based on the cases buyers open and a few other metrics. If you were to contact eBay with hearsay about one of 18 million sellers, there would be no action they could take. I recognize that you missed the return deadline because the part didn't fail until after that. Just telling a seller you want your money back without returning the item however, isn't going to get you very far.
If you miss an eBay deadline, you can open a return case through PayPal within 180 days of purchase, but you'd have to return the item to get a refund unless the seller doesn't want it back.
I noticed you didn't leave feedback to warn other buyers about your experience (or left any feedback for your positive experiences within the past year). Leaving feedback for sellers is how buyers help each other. Fortunately other buyers have left feedback for that seller. The seller's feedback is not good. Had you reviewed that before making your purchases, that may have encouraged you to find a better seller.
I know this doesn't help for your previous purchases, but may help going forward.

OP2 years agoI know it is always buyer beware on eBay. I just wish there was a mechanism to file an official complaint with facts and data to them. It is harming eBay! You don't have this problem on Amazon because they care about their reputation.
I guess I am just done with eBay. It's kind of like making a deal in a back ally!

The way to avoid making a deal in a back alley is to stay away from back alleys. That's what feedback is for and this seller's feedback is full of warning signs.
If it will make you feel better, you can contact eBay and tell them your story, but they will not take action on a story without evidence. They may even add details to the seller's record where it will just sit. They way eBay collects evidence is through the cases opened against the seller.
(When you receive shoddy merchandise from that other marketplace, they take care of you when you return the item within the same return window as eBay's.)
