report a seller?
Greetings, I bought an item (number: 166699389667) over the weekend--a wooden mantle for a fireplace. Then I heard from the seller that they had halfway stripped the wood over the weekend, essentially making it a completely different piece which would require me to do a ton of work to restore it. Basically all he said was "sorry, if you don't want it, I'll refund you."
He has refunded me, but I feel ripped off and manipulated. I suspect he wasn't happy that I got it for the lowest bidding price, but of course I can't prove that. I'd like to report this seller to eBay for misleading and unfair selling tactics.
Is it worth it to report him? Can I report him? If so, how? It doesn't seem like I can even leave negative feedback. What are my options?
thanks,
Mike

Mentor2 years agoHello mcputnam,
I would definitely report this Seller. He said he altered the item after the sale and then asked if you still wanted it. That would seem to get you to agree to cancel, so his account wasn't affected. You should be able to leave appropriate feedback. Here is the link to report him:

I'm sorry this happened to you and it is good you spoke up so we could help.

OP2 years agothanks for your reply. he cancelled and refunded me the money on his own. I think he's trying to play the system as well. I will report him, I really appreciate your support.

Mentor2 years agoDid you then ask to cancel the transaction or did he can cancel on his own?
What reason did ebay say he cancelled the transaction for?

OP2 years agothanks very much for responding. He cancelled it on his own, the page says "This item is out of stock" which is obviously a lie.
thoughts?
I really appreciate your support,
Mike

Mentor2 years agoIf ebay indicated that he cancelled for out of stock, then he automatically gets a strike and forfeits his ebay fees. So there is nothing to report. Had he selected you requested to cancel to avoid this, then that would be a reportable offense.
