replacement of the item or asking for a full refund
I purchased a ThinkPad X1 Carb Gen 8 from a seller in late November 2023. Unfortunately, it’s a faulty device.
When I first looked at it, I switched it on to see if it was working properly and it started up. Opting to use it at a later stage (believing it was working properly), I carried on with the normal day-to-day routine of using my other ThinkPad, a device that was purchased from the same seller approx 2½ years earlier. However, in Feb 2024, I realised the Gen 8 model wasn’t working properly. Unfortunately, the device constantly shuts down. It could be an overheating issue? I don’t know.
The seller has offered me a 16% reimbursement or the ‘repair of the device or reasonable replacement’. If, from the seller’s POV, a reasonable replacement is as reasonable as a 16% reimbursement, I would be concerned. As I’ve conveyed to the seller, ‘If the device was never used, as that was your description in your eBay ad, it should work properly.’ I only ask that the seller provide a device that functions properly -- the quality of the device comparable to the one that was purchased. Can you help?

eBay has a 30-day Money Back Guarantee. Your protections from eBay as a Buyer therefore, end 30 days after delivery. At this point, the Seller is not required by eBay to make things whole. The fact that this Seller offered a 16% reimbursement fee, shows the Seller values your business and would like to keep you as a customer.
