Reneging on a sale.
I am so upset with this that I want to scream. I tried contacting an eBay "person" to tell them the boo-boo I am about to make; it is eating me up. I sold dolls for $175 and took the merchandise to the PO to be shipped. The cost is $140!!!!!! I can't do this and am going to cancel the sale. My approval rating is 100% and it kills me that I want to do this. What do you people think? I am 81 years old, but didn't know I was THAT ignorant of mailing fees!

The buyer may not leave negative feedback, but you do need to cancel the sale using the reason out of stock if you aren't going to ship so the buyer gets his refund. You'll take a hit on your seller metrics for each order you cancel...not ideal. I would send a sincere apology to the buyer through messaging before cancelling so he understands what happened.
It looks like you are using a flat shipping rate. Shipping is based on the package size and weight and the distance between you and the buyer. you should use calculated shipping so won't lose money going forward.
You'll need a postal scale so that you can enter an accurate weight. You can order one right here on eBay for around 30 dollars. It will pay for itself very quickly.
Read about calculated shipping here:

If you purchase and print your labels from eBay, you pay discounted rates - much less than what the PO charges.
