Removal of false claim
I had a buyer purchase a handbag from me and left neutral review saying she wasn’t sure the item was authentic. I messaged her and told her how she could tell it was authentic (by the stamped serial number on the bag) but told her I would let her return the item for a full refund. She said she understood the item is authentic and insists on keeping it but won’t revise her feedback. No response at all. eBay says they won’t remove it because “it was her experience at the time†of writing the feedback. They can read the messages between us and can clearly see the buyer knows it’s authentic and won’t return it so why won’t they step in and remove it? And come to find out, I wouldn’t even be able to leave negative feedback for a buyer even if that was “my experienceâ€. eBay claims they will remove false claims but clearly will not and won’t even give me a reason. 15 years of nothing but positive reviews on my account and this is what I get when a situation is cut and dry and the feedback is clearly false? Why?

OP2 years agoThat’s because people are rude instead of helpful. I asked a question. If people can’t say something nice here, they shouldn’t say anything at all.

Mentor2 years agoMy Grandma used to say that. Except she didn't just say it, she practiced it.
Perhaps the following specimens will be recognized....
• Not helpful and rude. You must work for eBay.
• your response wasn’t helpful. It was snotty.
• There are some serious jerks replying to me here.
• You wouldn’t know a classic coach handbag from a St. John’s bay pleather shoulder bag
• Which is more than I can say for any of the junk you sell.

Mentor2 years agoHi @gosimus This thread has provided some pretty good laughs, albeit unintentionally. Merry Christmas!

Mentor2 years ago@tenbigdogs Merry Christmas to you, too. Snow is falling here, right this moment.

Mentor2 years agoHi @grandmasatticestate86 You got top dollar for maybe the most boring Coach bag ever made. Content yourself with that. Good luck!

< told her I would let her return the item for a full refund >
If you were willing to take the purse back for a refund, why didn't you say that in the listing instead of "Seller does not accept returns." I think your no returns might have influenced the buyer, since she even referred to it ("...as all sales are final") in the feedback she left you.
You repeated your willingness to accept a return in your reply to her feedback. This could teach future buyers that the way to get you to take a return is to give you a neutral or negative feedback. That's a message you don't want to be sending.
grandmasatticestate86
OP2 years agoBecause I made an exception. Not hard to figure out.
grandmasatticestate86
OP2 years agoAnd my policy is usually not to take returns. The point is the buyer should have asked me their question instead of writing it in a review. Common sense.

Mentor2 years agoWow, all your replies to your fellow members here who have tried to help you.
The saying is "A soft answer turneth away wrath" so I'll just wish you good luck.

OP2 years agoI didn’t get soft answers. I got insults.

First: go to the handbag forum and ask for feedback: https://community.ebay.com/t5/Handbags/bd-p/luxury-handbags
With maybe a better picture of the creed.
If the bag is considered to be authentic, try to get rid of the feedback.
Scroll to the bottom of this help page https://www.ebay.com/help/selling/leaving-feedback-buyers/viewing-responding-feedback-buyers?id=4103
Click on Request feedback removal.
grandmasatticestate86
OP2 years agoI’ve done all of that. Still, eBay refuses to take the false claim down.

·2 years agoI can't find your thread or posting on the handbag board.
Can you give a link?

OP2 years agoIt’s not on the handbag authentication forum because it didn’t need to be. I’m the person people ask to authenticate on Facebook. Not only is the serial number authentic, the zipper is coach, the creed is spot on, and it belonged to my grandmother. The point is the lady questioned it in a review instead of asking. I messaged her and she now understands that it’s authentic and wants to keep it even though I offered to take it back and pay the shipping. She won’t send it back because she knows it’s real. She said she will “carry it lovinglyâ€. But she also won’t take down her crappy neutral review.

·2 years agoI'm sorry that the buyer won’t take down her wrong review.

OP2 years agoThank you for being nice about it.

Mentor2 years agoOh, I forgot that Middletown, Ohio is the luxury handbag capital of Ohio. I belong to all the Coach groups on Facebook. I'll keep an eye out for you to say Hi. Happy Holidays!
grandmasatticestate86
OP2 years agoI’m sure you’re the person on the Facebook groups showing off your new gold lemme coach bag from 2021 lol. And Middletown is 20 minutes from Cincinnati. Believe it or not, we don’t have out houses and chew tobacco. You wouldn’t know a classic coach handbag from a St. John’s bay pleather shoulder bag as you proved by your earlier comment. And don’t bother “keeping your eye out for meâ€â€¦that’s stalker talk.

Mentor2 years agoIt's a neutral feedback, and you replied to it. Time to move on.
grandmasatticestate86
OP2 years agoAnd no one sees the replies to feedback, only the feedback, so that means nothing.
disneyshopper
Mentor2 years agoI see the replies to feedback, so should anyone who decides to look at neutral and negative feedback that has been left. No, I do not work for ebay.
