Regarding EIS terms and the domestic trading card rule allowing returns within 3 days
Summary: shina-17586 shared their experience of purchasing a trading card box from overseas via eBay and facing issues with the return policy. They accidentally damaged the box due to poor packaging and were denied a refund by eBay, which cited a domestic '3-day rule'. However, shina-17586 argues that the '30-day return' policy under eBay International Shipping should apply. They seek advice on the precedence of these rules and whether they must accept the loss.
I would appreciate any advice you could offer.
I purchased an unopened trading card box from overseas via eBay.
Inside the shipping carton, a piece of cardboard had been placed at the bottom, and the trading card box—which lacked any protective cushioning—was placed directly on top of it.
Unaware of this arrangement, I opened the carton as I usually do, and in the process, I accidentally inflicted significant cuts on the shrink wrap and the outer box of the trading card set, as they had been positioned right against the top flap of the carton.
The item was shipped via eBay International Shipping (EIS). Although I explained the situation and requested a refund, eBay refused to consider my claim three times, citing the "3-day rule" typically applied to domestic trading card sales (in reality, two weeks had passed between receipt and my return request).
However, the EIS terms and conditions explicitly state that the rule allowing for returns within 30 days takes precedence over other rules.
Am I left with no choice but to simply accept the loss?

I would like to clarify which return policy takes precedence regarding trading cards. Specifically, I want to know whether the "3-day return policy" (applicable to domestic sales) or the "30-day return policy" under eBay International Shipping (EIS) (applicable to international sales) applies in this case.
This transaction involved international shipping via EIS, and I requested a return two weeks after the item arrived. Based on the EIS policy at the link below, I understand that the "30-day rule" takes precedence over the "3-day rule."
