Refunds for items stolen before delivery
Hi, a buyer recently messaged me wanting to know why her purchase wasn’t delivered. I checked the tracking and confirmed that it hadn’t arrived, then contacted USPS. They informed me that the package had been stolen but is insured. Now what? Should I refund the buyer- likely without success- to get my money from USPS? Or tell her to contact USPS for a refund? The whole thing seems unfair for both parties.

Mentor1 year agoYou need to open a claim on the USPS site for a lost package. Do this now, as it may shake the item loose. Otherwise after 21 days the claim will pay whether it later turns up after that or not. In the mean time wait for buyer to open Item Not Received case through ebay, then do not refund until the last day stated just in case it does show up before then. In the meantime keep an eye on the tracking.
