Refunds and Returns for items picked up locally.
I have a person driving 5 hours to come and pick up a very large audio mixer. What happens if he decides that he doesn't want it and claims that something is wrong the the mixer (even though I'm positive it is in perfect operating order). Can he claim under the ebay protection policy that it doesn't work properly and cause a return, that I would have to pay for (which would be over 400.00 dollars on a 700 dollar item)? Is there anything I can do to protect myself? He has already been hesitant after bidding and was on the verge of backing out, therefore I'm afraid he may try something like that. I can even see him trying to package this huge item, and not packing it well, causing damage that the carrier would deem as "improper packaging" resulting in me losing money on the refund, losing money on my damaged mixer and having the responsibility to mitigate the claim, even though none of it would be my fault. Can anyone help me here?
