Refunds and hold on payment
I had to refund a customer because the USPS was behind in shipping their item and eBay put a hold on my payouts. A day after I issued the refund, there was movement in the tracking, and now the customer has their merchandise and a refund as well. But eBay says the case is closed and I can't appeal

OP2 years agoI have contacted the buyer...no response. I guess I'm out of my money and merchandise 😥

OP2 years agoI think there might be a language barrier also...my customer appears to be speaking Spanish in her messages to me.

That makes it harder, for sure. You can use google to translate your message - my practice was to respond with the translation, then the English just in case google didn’t get it 100% correct.

Ebay's response is correct.
You stated that USPS was behind in shipping the Buyer's purchase. Did you ship it within your handling time? Did the Buyer open an Item Not Received refund request where you would have entered the tracking? Was it past the estimated delivery date?
Once a Seller refunds their Buyer and the package is then delivered, eBay will not get involved. Hopefully the Buyer is honest and reimburses you.

You must work with the buyer to get them to repay the refund or return the item.
Send them a note and ask if they want to return the item - you will send a return label - or keep the item and repay the refund that you sent. Most people are honest and will do one or the other.
If they want to return, create a label at pirateship.com, print it to a jpeg file and send the file in an eBay message to the buyer.
If they want to keep it, you can agree on a payment method that works for you both - you can send a paypal invoice, or they cans end the money with zelle or venmo, or even a paper check. You will need to exchange contact info for any of these, this is OK since you have a transactions together.
