Refunds

Hello,
I have an issue with one of my orders. I shipped it on 3/11/23 with tracking number. Based on the tracking number, my order has not left my local USPS store yet. It’s been more than 10 days and the customers wants a refund. I sell custom handmade items so to provide a refund will be a hit for my small business for the time I spent making it. I have a picture as a proof I took of the order before I shipped it and also the tracking number. What should I do? Thanks

Mentor3 years agoGo to usps.com. First view the tracking and request email or text updates. Then open a missing mail search. More often than not it does not help, but at least you can tell your buyer that you have done these things.
If the buyer has already opened a not received claim, go to the claim and refund your buyer. You do not have a choice - the item is overdue, and you do not want eBay to have to step in and issue the refund from your money.
Let the buyer know you have refunded, but you do expect the package to arrive, and would like to arrange for them to repay the refund when it does arrive. Most buyers are happy to do so. You have to do this outside of eBay, but for now, just plant the seed that they should still expect to receive their purchase.
If they have not opened a claim yet, ask them to do that. This will give you 3 more business days for the package to turn up. Be sure to refund at the end of the 3rd business day. If it does suddenly show movement, you can ask customer service to allow a few more days for delivery.

OP3 years agoThanks for taking the time to respond. The package actually was delivered two days ago. We just received a notification when it was delivered but never received updates during in transit. We were lucky I guess.

Little tip, you need to remove all the SM links in your descriptions, it isn't allowed.

Mentor3 years agoGreat! If it was sent parcel select, the no in transit scan is typical, since it is moving by truck.
Very few packages really get lost. Some are not deliverable due to labels being torn and no other way to identify sender or receiver - this is why you should always include a packing list.
