refunding a buyer

Question

I refunded the purchase price for an item the buyer said arrived broken. I said he didn't have to return the item when he complained when I said I would not pay for return shipping. Now he has initiated a refund request. I already refunded the $29.99 purchase. I do not see a way to explain this to ebay.

Did you refund the $29.99 through eBay ?

Depending on the reason the buyer used when they opened the request, you may have to refund the outgoing shipping if it was charged above the $29.99

If you don't want the item back, you don't have to pay for a return label.

Please let me know the reason the buyer used on the return so I can explain further.
