Refund request help
Recently I purchased an item that was being shipped from China and when I received it , it was not the exact item in the description. I contacted the seller and they stated he sent version 2 that was better. I explained it was not what he was offering and I opened a refund request. I received a small amount of money offer for the return. I refused it and then I received an email asking what I wanted. I explained either send the return label so I can ship the item back to you or at least return 50% if you want to avaid shipping. His lat email was asking me to cancel the return request so he can refund the 50% purchase price.
My question is , does he need me to cancel the return request , or can he offer the 50% just like he initially offer the $3.00 refund or do I need to cancel the request for him to offer it to me?

No. This is a lie that unscrupulous sellers commonly use to try to trick the buyer. Once you close the return request, the seller is all "So long, sucker!" You need to hang in there. Personally, I wouldn't settle for 50%, and especially not now that the seller lied to me about closing the return request.

Mentor4 months agoDo not cancel the request. Once you cancel the request you cannot open another one when the seller does not follow through. The seller just wants you to cancel so they are off the hook as far as eBay is concerned. If the seller does not follow through with any refund you would have to go to your payment source and seek a charge back. This is a common request from sellers in China to keep from having to pay you.
However, keep in mind that if nothing happens with the request for 21 days eBay will automatically close the request in the sellers favor so you need to force something now.
