refund for coin set as gift card, can't use to purchase coin set

Question

I returned a 2018 silver coin set because wrong item sent. eBay refunded as gift card instead of back to bank account. Unable to use gift card to purchase same 2018 coin set (the correct one) nor able to have eBay send back to bank account. Contacted customer service they said can do nothing.

@maranatha67 < eBay refunded as gift card instead of back to bank account > eBay states – in https://www.ebay.com/help/buying/returns-refunds/returning-item?id=4041 – the following: Refunds go back to your original or selected payment method and are typically available within 3-5 business days. Some orders allow you to select the option to be refunded to an eBay gift card. If you pick this option, your refund will arrive more quickly. You can't change your refund payment method once it's been selected. Is it possible you selected the gift card refund? Maybe by accident?

I purchased a 2018 coin set with money from my bank account. Ebay refunded the return as a gift card to my account, I figured ok, I'm going to use it to get the same item they tell me I can't, I tell them to put money back to my bank account so I can get the same set that way and they say they won't. So they have stolen my money.

You can’t use an eBay gift card to buy bullion, coins, paper money, virtual currency, coupons, or other gift cards.
