Refund for an item sold elsewhere.
I sold an item and then sold it elsewhere after being unable to contact them, how do I refund them after they paid ebay?

In addition to what @ferncliff-39 has provided STOP cross listing your items on different sites, you just learned it can cause problems. When you cancel the eBay transaction make sure you use the Out-of-stock reason (I am sure the UK has an equivalent reason). Your account will get a defect for cancelling that way but again, that is the risk of cross listing.

Mentor9 months ago@mr_lincoln OP said they sold it elsewhere after being unable to contact the buyer, not that they cross listed.
It originally sold on Nov 4 as a local collection.

You'll have to Cancel the order, the refund is automatic after that.
Also...this is the U.S. site - ebay.com
