Refund due to quantity issue
Summary: blizzardfive sold an item on Friday, intending to sell 59 units but accidentally listed 89. After realizing the mistake, they attempted to contact the buyer multiple times without success. rfmtm and mr_lincoln advised to either refund the purchase or try contacting the buyer via phone. blizzardfive is considering canceling the order due to the lack of response, taking the impact on their account into account.
Hello. I made a sale on Friday for 89 of an item. Unfortunately, I think I fat fingered the 8 key instead of the 5. It should have been 59. As soon as I realized the issue, I tried contacting the buyer but received no response. I’ve tried contacting the buyer the last 4 days and received no response. I offered a full refund or a partial refund for the 30 items I cannot fulfill. Without their input or a response, am I better off just canceling this order and taking the hit on my account?

Mentor3 weeks agoAre you saying your listing showed 89 when you only had 59 of them and the buyer purchased and paid for 89?
Since you are probably already late shipping and the buyer has not responded you need to cancel the transaction, which will automatically refund the buyer. Include a note as to the problem and relist.

OP3 weeks agoExactly. Listed 89 but only have 59. I have until Wednesday to ship which is why I wanted to ask for advice. I think I’d rather just refund it and take my lumps.

Message your customer and be completely honest with them:
-You could offer to Refund them for 30 of the items and ship them 59
-Ask them to ask you to cancel the entire transaction, if they agree you can cancel using the reason "Buyer requested" to avoid a strike on your account. The Buyer would be unaffected by a cancellation request that you honor
-It is nice you have a little time. The Order details for paid items will also have the Buyer's phone number, while I have never used one it is an option to you if the purchase is a significant one.

OP3 weeks agoThanks for the advice. I’ve suggested that but I can’t get a response. That seems to be my other issue right now…no response from the buyer.

Give it another day ... the Buyer may be a contractor and need those System Sensor SPSCWLED L-Series Indoor Ceiling-Mounted Speakers. Based on the total price of 89 of those I would call them tomorrow afternoon.
