Refund after a Case has been Opened
I opened a Case for a Refund on August 16 on a suspected Counterfeit item I returned after the Seller totally ignored my Refund request.
This case is still pending. How can I get in touch with Ebay without chatting to the freaking virtual assistant.
I want to follow up on my case as I am not getting any feeback.
Your assistance will be appreciated.

Do you use a U.S. based freight forwarder to have items sent to you in S. Africa? If you do, that is why you received the U.S. shipping label. eBay does not know you use a freight forwarder, they only see the Forwarder's U.S. address and that is why they sent you that type of label. If you open the dispute you filed you were probaly given 5 working days to get the package into the hands of the shipping service whose label you received.
If you shipped the item back to the sellers location using an international service that provided door to door tracking, from S.Africa to the U.S. You will not receive a refund for that cost.
Before I can offer any more suggestions I need to know if you used a freight forwarder in the U.S. and if you have a postal receipt with a tracking number.

You did not say whether or not you use a U.S. based forwarding service.
Was the item sent using ebay's International Shipping service?
If you sent the item back before opening the dispute you should not have done that. If you sent the item back after receiving a label from ebay, a rep may not see the info you posted. ebay's Money Back Guarantee (MBG) system is automated and it is waiting for the label's tracking that was sent to you to update, thus the Pending notice.

OP11 months agoAt 1st I opened a return which I couldnt use so opted to send via DHL.Only about 10 days later could I ask Ebay to step in via the system. This is where I gave a full breakdown with documentational evidence.
It currently shows that it was Escalated to Ebay Customer Support BUT I cannot find a way to communicate with them so that I can follow up.

Why will you not say if you use a freight forwarder to have items sent to you from the U.S.?
If ebay has said that it is now in the hands of customer support you will receive a message eventually. There is no way to communicate with customer support. Until you do get a message from them, none of us can help you any further. Once you do get a message come back to this board and reply to the topic you have posted.
To find this topic again since it could be many pages down.
Once you are logged into the community look in the upper right corner of the page for your ebay generated avatar circle. Click on it, and from the options that drop down select My Profile.
When you do that your community profile page will open and below the info in the colored banner on the left you will see Posts Replies.
Posts is the default landing and below it you will see the Title of this topic, which can be clicked on to open it. Then you can reply to it with what ever information you get from ebay.
Try doing that now so you can see how it works.
If you want to tag me with a reply before writing one use the "@" symbol and select my username from the list (if any others reply in the meantime). Doing that will send me a notice that you have replied to the topic so I can respond to you. Since we are many hours apart time zone wise, this time of day is when you are likely to get a quick response from me.

When you opened the dispute through ebay, the seller had 3 days to respond by either sending you a return shipping label, requesting the cost of the return shipping, or issuing a refund if they did not want to pay the return shipping. Since they did not respond to the dispute on the 4th day you could have asked ebay to step in and a refund would have been issued from the seller's account. The whole automated process and its time frames for taking actions, is described in the Money Back Guarantee (MBG) link that is on every listing, just click on the Learn more button under the Shop with confidence header.
There was no need for you to ship the item back on your own dime if you did that and used a service that had tracking hopefully you kept the postal receipt.

OP11 months agoHi
Thanx for your feedback.I had to ship on my own cost as I am from South SAfrica and Ebay only supplied a US domestic shipping label.
I have already asked Ebay to step in on August 16 and provided a detailed breakdown with documents as proof BUT its been nearly 3 weeks.
