Refund
Summary: sidsism.pgcsp9 purchased a limited edition vinyl record but never received it. After learning it was a presale item with delayed release, they requested a refund from the seller, who advised using an option not available under the purchase details. sidsism.pgcsp9 is confused about eBay's policy, which states refunds should occur within 30 days, while presale items have a 40-day fulfillment window. mr_lincoln suggests pursuing a dispute with the funding source, as both the seller and eBay would not provide a refund.
I purchased an limited edition vinyl record back in March. It said delivery within 2 weeks, but I never received it. I reached out to the seller, and she informed me it was a presale item and she didn't have possession of the item yet. We communicated back and forth several times and she stated that it was supposed to be released end of May. May came and went, and the item never showed up. I reached out recently and asked for a refund, because I have doubts the record would ever be delivered. The seller informed me to go to purchases and select, "Item never received". But I don't have that option under my purchase.
I contacted ebay's automated helpdesk, and it says that the policy states that refunds need to be within 30 days. But when I look up policy for presale items, it says the seller has 40 days to fulfill their order, and if the seller does not, they are operating outside of the policy. So if the seller breaks the presale policy, wouldn't that void out their refund policy? How do I get a refund for an item I never received?

Mentor3 weeks agoHi @sidsism.pgcsp9
While the Seller listed the item wrong (because they could not deliver it within the eBay 40 day policy) you were only covered for the 30 days from the estimated delivery date. The net result is that you will have to pursue a dispute with your funding source to get your money back because eBay will not help you at this point, nor will the seller be able to refund your money.

OP3 weeks agoI was finally able to speak to an agent from eBay, they looked at my history and saw that I kept regular communication. Since the seller wasn't honest, they are issuing me a full refund. As it should be. I told them their policy sucked, because their 40 day presale policy doesn't protect buyers under their 30 days money back guarantee policy. If a seller doesn't honor the presale policy, and the buyer never gets the product, they are screwed twice by the eBay (no item/no refund). I'm glad I was finally able to speak to a human being to get this resolved.
