Refund
Summary: os3635 shared a frustrating experience with a seller on eBay who promised a refund only after receiving a positive review and a withdrawn return request. Despite complying, os3635 received no refund and the seller became unresponsive. golfingaddict advised against closing the return request and suggested escalating the issue through eBay under normal circumstances. Since the request was prematurely closed, golfingaddict recommended seeking recourse through the payment method used, such as a credit card or PayPal. os3635 expressed dissatisfaction with eBay compared to positive experiences with another platform, noting difficulties in finding the necessary car part elsewhere.
English:
I reached an amicable agreement with the seller for a refund on the item he sent me, but it didn't work out. He asked me to withdraw the return request and leave a positive review; only then would he give me the refund. I've messaged him privately, but he's not responding.

Mentor1 week agoIf you want to escalate a case as a buyer, you can ask eBay to step in and help if the seller hasn't responded or provided a resolution after 3 business days.
Go to your Purchases.
Find the item related to your issue.
In the More Actions menu, select See request details.
Select Ask eBay to step in and help.
Choose a reason from the dropdown menu and confirm.
Once eBay steps in, they will review the case and respond within 48 hours. You have up to 21 business days from when you opened the original request to ask eBay to step in.
If you don't agree with eBay's resolution, you can appeal by providing new information within 30 calendar days of the case being closed.

OP1 week agoI understand what you're saying, but it just so happens that I already closed the return request because I foolishly fell for his offer. He told me to close it and then he'd give me a refund, but to this day he hasn't returned anything. I've already sent him private messages and he's not responding, and that option you mentioned where you say to request eBay's intervention isn't showing up anywhere for me. When I request chat support, I don't get the answers I need, so I really don't know what to do. At first, I told the seller no. I don't know what came over me, but I foolishly fell for his trick and closed the request.

Mentor1 week agoYou do not have any options with eBay once you close the return request.
You need to seek help from your payment source. Did you purchase with a credit card or Paypal? They may be able to help you.

OP1 week agoBelieve me, I've had a terrible experience with eBay. I'd never bought anything there before, and it doesn't even come close to Amazon. eBay is awful, a shady, dishonest platform with tons of thieves. You don't see that on Amazon, at least not 100%. But the guy who robbed me was hilarious; he's a desperate loser, that's what he is. I decided to buy on eBay because I can't find what I need on Amazon, which is a spare part for my car. I can only find it on eBay, but what a horrible platform eBay is! It's useless. Thank you so much for what you did for me, for your help, and God bless you.

Mentor1 week agoDo not close the request. If you do, you will have no options for a refund or return.
No need to message him privately and no need to give a feedback.
Once the request is open, your job is done. The seller then accepts the return and provides a label for you to return it OR they refund you.
He is trying to pull a fast one by getting you to close the request.
Just wait it out. IN a few days it will give you the option to escalate to eBay if he does not take care of it.

OP1 week agoThat's what I thought too, but I don't know what happened and I fell for that trap. In the end, he's a thief, a cheap thief.
Can you tell me how to escalate the problem I'm currently having on eBay, What steps do I need to take, please?
