Recourse on import fees from FedEx after delivery
Hi,
I had my first experience with purchasing an item from Canada and experiencing import fees. I saw on checkout that there potentially could be import fees, but being that the sneakers went through the ebay authentication process (shipped to ebay, then shipped to me), and my experience selling sneakers (where the shipping for international is shipped to ebay for free and they handle from there so i don't need to fill out customs forms), i thought it would be clearly spelled out how much the fees would be. i received the $120 sneakers last week, no mention of the fees, and then today i received a bill in the mail for $75 from FedEx.
My question is if there is any recourse at this point. I paid about $10 less than retail ordering them through ebay (albeit they're a bit hard to find), but now will pay way over what i could have just bought them for here. I also don't really have the extra funds to now put out for this.
Shouldn't the fees be made clear prior to delivery? Not sure where to go from here.

Mentor5 months agoAre you sure those are import fees, and not brokerage fees? Fed Ex and UPS both charge brokerage fees.

OP5 months agocould be. It was an invoice i got from fedex in the mail over a week after the sneakers had already been delivered. The breakdown of the fees says $47 customs duty, $10 entry fee, $15 disbursement fee, and $3 processing fee. just confused why this wasn't shown before the purchase or certainly before the delivery. Springing a fee that is 60% of the purchase price certainly would have made me move on. And now that it's already been delivered they really put you in a position that you HAVE to pay it.
