Received wrong item from seller: possible scam attempt?
Scam attempt? Ordered a used sailing jacket. Instead I got an obviously stained baby’s Onsie- appears to be the lightest thing a person could send to obtain tracking info as proof for a scam and also item not something anyone would want to buy or sell so seems unlikely to be a mistake on seller’s part. I started a return as Not as Described and shortly after got a message from the seller saying my money would be returned and not to bother sending the Onsie back. I feel like this was a scam attempt but not sure how that would work or if I can believe my money will actually be returned “ within 3 days†without further action by me,such as going to my credit card people or paypal( used my CC via PayPal). I wonder if I use the mailing label Ebay sent to send it back will that head off any further trouble ? Also wonder if sending it back will that cost the seller money(because I want to cost the seller money 😂)? I’m also asking all of this to determine if leaving bad feedback on seller is warranted -again, hard to believe this was a mistake on seller’s part

Mentor2 years ago@willycrash63 Sellers can make mistakes but this sounds deliberate.
Stay with the eBay Money Bank Guarantee case. The seller has to pay return shipping and refund you 100%. This also goes on the sellers record when you file MBG case.
The seller has 2 business days to refund you once tracking shows delivery back to them. If they don't refund you then ask eBay to step in and force a refund ( this gives the seller a defect on their account too)

Don't contact your credit card or PayPal or it will cause the case to close in the sellers favor because you can't legally have a refund request from more than one payment source.
Refund requests should always be filed in this order eBay> PayPal> bank or credit card. If one fails for some reason due to time limits etc then you move on to the next one.
