Received incorrect item and eBay denied my claim
Hello:
On a recent auction that I won, I received an incorrect item in the package. The tracking number matches the auction so I did receive something from the seller, but it was not the item I ordered. The seller has not been helpful and eBay denied my claim stating seller provided proof that an item was delivered.
What recourse do I have? Is there anyone to actually call and speak to? I have photographs of the shipping label and box and contents and they do not match the auction. I'm really shocked that eBay doesn't have my back on this and will certainly think twice before shopping here again. The auction is 334964875962.
I've attached pictures of the shipping label. The tracking number matches the tracking number of the auction, but again, the package contents do not match and the label is very suspicious: it doesn't even have a return address or my name on it.
Edited the image to remove my address, my name is not even on the label. Also the tracking number matches the auction shipping notice, I just blocked out some letters for privacy. Even with the damage, the number is correct.
TIA

OP3 years agoI had incorrectly opened the claim as item not received as I did not receive the item I ordered. The system allowed me to open another claim for receiving the incorrect item. Let's see if I'm denied this one!

OP2 years agoEbay did honor the 2nd claim which was for not having received the correct item (which was the correct situation), however I am still miffed that eBay's guarantee doesn't cover items not properly delivered. I guess I'd have to fight with the Post Office on those claims, but seems like eBay should offer guidance in situations where the postal service claims the item was delivered, but it was in fact delivered to the wrong address. Ebay could link to a USPS site for filing such a claim instead of just sending a denial. "While eBay's systems show the item was delivered to your address on file based on the tracking number provided by the seller, if you did not receive the item, please open a claim with the USPS at the following link:"
Also eBay should make it clearer when opening the case so users can pick the exact status. Ebay could also ask more questions about the case: "Did the tracking number on the package match the tracking number on the auction?" for example. "Have you verified your address on file with eBay is correct?" etc.
Anyway, I'm feeling better not having to pay for an item I didn't receive. Case closed.
