Received fake cologne and asked for refund. I got refund but I never shipped item back to seller.
I bought cologne that was listed as 100% original. When it arrived it had a lot of issues and it was obviously fake cologne. I asked for refund since item was not as described. I got a refund and case on website shows as closed now and I can not even get to the shipping label step, since the case is closed. So the question is, what do I need to do now? Customer support told me that the seller made a refund and case is closed and it is on me to return it or not, since case us fully closed and I can legally keep the item. What should I do?

Do as eBay instructed. Once the seller refunds, you are under no obligation to return the item. If the seller wants it back, he needs to send you a return label. Even then, it's up to you to return it or not. I would be inclined not to return a counterfeit.

OP2 years agoeBay support told me that I can keep it and it is on me to return it or not. I think seller wants me to ship it back to him, he told me to go to post office. What should I do? Seller has my name and address

Mentor2 years agoIf the seller wants the item back AND you want to return it, then let him know that he will need to send you a prepaid return shipping label. If you don't want to return it, don't respond to the messages. Sellers who want an item back are supposed to provide a return label and refund AFTER they get the item back - not before. They are advised of this when the receive the case and respond to it.
Don't worry about him having your name and address or let that even enter into your decision. It's hardly likely he is going to pay for a plane ticket to fly to your city and come and knock at your door to retrieve the cologne.

Since you have already been refunded, you keep the item. You can toss it away if you wish.

You are not legally required to return the item.
If the item is counterfeit, you should not be returning it.

You have the refund you may do as you wish with the product.
Seeing how it is fake, dump it.
