Received a damaged package that was a gift.
Our son bought my wife a set of Kachina dolls as a gift. It was sent from the seller directly to us. We received the package partially crushed, and the contents were damaged. Delivered by FedEx. They (FedEx) told me that the seller has to file a damage claim. I have no information on the seller as the information was not enclosed with the package. I am assuming our son (buyer) will have to file a damage claim with either FedEx or PayPal. Not sure what I can/need to do.

Mentor4 months ago@voyager_xii The seller that your son bought from will have to file the Fed Ex claim. Hold on to all items including the packing material. Fed Ex may ask for the items to be taken to a Fed Ex office for inspection.
The other option is just have your son file a not as described return request and then the seller refunds and they can work it out with Fed Ex. Postal insurance is for the seller, the buyer is covered by the eBay Money Back guarantee.
You can share this with your son if so he knows how to file the refund request>
The eBay Money Back Guarantee over rules the sellers return policy. You have 30 days from the date of delivery to file a not as described return request for most categories AND 3 days for Trading Cards.
Here's what you need to do:
Open a return with the reason doesn't match description or photos.
Select the return item button on this page:
https://www.ebay.com/help/buying/returns-refunds/return-item-refund?id=4041&st=
4 business days after filing the return request if the seller has not provided a return shipping label or a full refund then ask eBay to step in and help: https://www.ebay.com/help/buying/returns-refunds/ask-ebay-to-step-in?id=4701
Let me know if you need to return an item to another country as there are additional steps required. The seller pays return shipping for an item that is not as described no matter where they are located.
