Quit Ebay.
After 25 years, 8 years under my account, I'm quitting dealing with Ebay. There people lied to me about resolving a problem with a buyer that lied and Ebay knew the buyer lied. I've had a 100% good feedback go back 8 years. Because one buyer made up lies they let that buyer give me negative feedback even before we settled the case. I had been going thru hoopes with Ebay and the buyer. I've done everything they asked me to do, that was what ebay said to do, and after telling me I was right and they paid the customer, I'm still out the shipping, materials and the item I sold him. The buyer called me lazy and said several derogatory things about me. After 1 week of going round and round trying to get this resolved, I was able to talk to a supervisor. Told him the issue, his name was Timothy, and after explaining everything, he told me in the end, don't worry we'll take down the negative feedback. He lied. It's still there. If you want to look up my account ddafternoons. So, Ebay will get no more money from me and I will buy nothing else from ebay sellers. Also they will not call me back after trying to get them to call me 4 times.

Mentor1 year agoSorry this happened to you, but the proper way to have handle this was to accept the return whether the buyer lied or not. That would have avoided any refund until the item was returned. Then you could have reported the buyer for abuse of the MBG and appealed the refund and possibly blocked or had the bad feedback removed.

OP1 year agoI'm getting a headache explaining. It wasn't the buyer. He was an idiot. It was Ebay lying to me! I've been in this business for decades. See a ton of stupid Ebay policy changes. They are always changing their format and we have to figure out what they just did. Again, frmtm, it's Ebay lying to me. They said they would remove the negative feedback and didn't. I spent a lot of time on this problem. I paid the shipping, went to the post office and spent a week trying to get the problem straightened out only to have Ebay lie to me and said they'd change the negative feedback and then they didn't. That was problem. And if they don't stand by their word, anyone for that matter, then kick them to the curb. But, thanks for your response, I'm sure you didn't get the whold story.

·1 year agoOf course, you have to make your own decision as to whether you want to stick with it or not, but I don’t think you should let one negative experience affect whether you stay or not. Ive been selling on eBay since March 1999. The most recent negative feedback I got was about 5 years ago, because when the buyer received the item, they decided they didn’t like the color. I made an offer of a full refund and she could keep it. She never responded. It happens to all of us.

OP1 year agoDid you read the reason. I've been selling since Meg Whitman was in charge, so I don't give me my dog is bigger then yours. My reason wasn't because of a buyer **bleep**ing. Hell, people **bleep** everyday. No. I was upset with Ebay lying to me. If I was worried about a customer's being and idiot, I would have stopped back in 1998. So, before you expell your wisdom, know all the facts. If your a seller and care you know how much is involved in the business of selling. The margins can be minimal. When I called Ebay on the carpet about their policy, they lied. That's the problem.

After one incident that went sour, and could have happened to anyone? If the mighty Casey had been called out once due to a dim-witted umpire's bad decision, would he have given up baseball forever?

OP1 year agoExcuse me? That's not the point. When you, and I don't know how you feel about your rep. But I've been doing this for 25 years! I don't play games. Don't try to lecture me. If I want to dump Ebay it's my choice. But, you missed everything didn't you? When you follow the rules and do all you can and Ebay says they will do what they said they were going to do and then, don't! That's the problem gosimus. Now maybe you don't care about your reputation, but I do. I take a person for their word. I don't appreciate them lying to me. I have big enough shoulders. But when a buyer puts out lies, that's time to stand up for yourself. Sorry you don't.

No, I would say I was seeing the big picture rather than the minutiae. My hope was to talk you off of the ledge. If you're bound and determined to quit eBay, nobody is stopping you. My dear departed grandma would have advised you not to cut off your nose to spite your face. I think her wisdom would exceed both ours.

OP1 year agoThanks for the advice. I put myself on here to express, one of many problems with Ebay. If you checked my positive responses, they are mostly outstanding. But, the issue isn't with the buyer, so much, people gripe, if I wanted to quit because a person was being difficult I'd have quit selling years ago. No it was with Ebay lying. It's no straightened out. But, it was do to my determinence, if that's a word, lol, that got them to see the error of there ways. Wasn't easy. But, you are absolutely right. If one reacted every time someone say's nasty things about you, you'd probably loose your mind. Thanks for your insight, but it was my fault I wasn't clear about what I was complaining about. If you have been dealing with ebay thru the years, you would have seen the changes they put seller's thru. Many have left. Just one that was huge was the departure of Paypal. Thanks again and I see your like a duck, you let things roll off your back. Good for you. You'll live longer. Ciao.
