Questions about Payment Methods
After 24 years of being with eBay, I was made aware today that eBay wants to verify my checking account. That's a little annoying since they have been inserting money into it for many years. I call and I'm told that the payment options have changed. Sure enough, I go into an auction for revision and I read the following:
Payment
Done
When buyers check out, they'll select one of the payment methods offered by eBay. The funds will then be sent to your checking account. You can edit your payout settings under Payments in Seller Hub.
Require immediate payment when buyer uses Buy It Now
Check
Money Order
Cash On Pickup
But when I called eBay, this lady informs me that the buyer will mail THEM the check/money order and will notify ME when the payment has been received and will deposit it into my account. However, the 'cash on pickup' means that they can stop by my place (or whatever place I choose, I guess) and hand me the cash. Is this like a step backwards in terms of payment? eBay started off with checks and MOs, graduated to electronic payments and are now are returning to the past. It makes zero sense to me. Anyway, just wanted to vent.

OP3 years agoThat's another good point. This doesn't sound like a well thought out plan

Mentor3 years agoIf the item requires sales tax to be collected, there is no "cash on pickup", as ebay has to get the tax from the buyer's online payment.
