Question on No Response from Buyer Re Defective Item
Summary: bandgindustries is seeking advice on handling a situation where they discovered a flaw in an item after it was sold and are unable to get a response from the buyer about whether to cancel the sale or offer a discount. mr_lincoln suggests that the item should be shipped with a note explaining the efforts to contact the buyer, offering a return, or a partial refund after inspection, as buyers may not always be available to respond immediately.
I have a question that I can't seem to find help with Ebay on other than the revolving help menu that doesn't address my issue. I listed an item that sold, however when packaging it, I discovered a flaw on the item. I contacted the Buyer right away, and have continued to try and contact them for four days now, however I am not receiving any kind of response at all. I offered him to cancel the sale or take a discount, but again, no response whatsoever. At this point I don't know if I should go ahead and ship the item or just cancel it at risk of making the Buyer mad. The item has already been paid for. Anyone experience this type of issue, and if so, what did you end up doing and how did it turn out? Thanks in advance!

-Thus far you have probably received a late shipping defect unless you have 5 day Handling set up. They are not the end of the world but will take 12 months to roll off your account.
-Buyers do not have to reply and maybe they can't right now. Maybe they went on vacation with no access to eBay if they only use a computer at home.
-I would ship the item with a nice note inside explaining your efforts to try and contact them before shipping. Let them know you will accept a return if they want that or work out a partial refund after they have inspected the item.
