Question about prohibited items being removed - has anyone had a vtg collectable thermometer removed
Ebay said a thermometer containing mercury is prohibited. They kicked my vtg thermometer listing off because of hazardous material. I called ebay and questioned why the customer service agent found no violation on those thermometer listings, but my vtg thermometer is not allowed. The agent I spoke with, could not answer my question on what is the difference between my thermometer & others. Has anyone else had a problem with an item being removed for a violation, yet others are still allowed to be listed for sale on Ebay?

Mentor8 months agoI don't know either. I just know the ramifications of relisting a removed item. I have had items removed too and I know the rules!

Mentor8 months agoYes, mercury is dangerous and toxic. Here is the policy https://www.ebay.com/help/policies/prohibited-restricted-items/hazardous-materials-policy?id=4335
Not all toxic materials are listed by name.
If eBay removed it, do not try to relist it. Once on the radar, you will be watched. If they remove it again, you could be suspended. Like with speeding, not all are caught. Feel free to report the others.

OP8 months agoI understand it's prohibited by Ebay. I just do not understand why the other thermometers are not prohibited also. I reported a few just to have them review the violation, and the customer service agent found those vtg thermometers were ok to stay on. Called and asked about it and they had no answer as to why they let some people list prohibited items when others can not. Ebay's policy should apply to all and not just a few. That's all, I'm venting because I do not see any difference. Thanks for all the help.
