Question about buying from a seller who provided incorrect information
So I purchased a product I needed for my PC on eBay on Thursday/Friday last week (10th or 11th). on Saturday the 12th I tried to cancel as I gut funds to go on Amazon and buy the product myself to get it three days sooner. The seller denied my cancellation.
I got my product I bought directly from Amazon on Sunday the 13th and then received a second delivery from Amazon for the same product a couple days later, which I thought was a mistake from Amazon to send a second one. The seller on eBay provided a FedEx tracking number saying my purchase would be delivered on the 17th... Well, FedEx delivered but it was to a different address and from the picture it was a completely different product. FedEx confirmed the tracking I was provided was not intended for me...
I reached out to the seller and eBay saying I didn't get the product from the eBay seller. I just got a reply today from the seller showing a very poor quality picture of the second Amazon box I received... Which I guess they took my money and bought it from Amazon themselves to save money...
My question on this situation is as follows: is this legit for a seller on eBay to not state that they are simply buying off Amazon for you and then provide a FedEx tracking number that has nothing to do with your order? Can I dispute this for a refund or discount? Technically, I don't need the product anymore since I bought it from Amazon myself and may just have to request to return the item to them. However, this process was very unclear and seems almost shady in a way to operate without informing your buyers of the process.
Any advice or opinions are welcome.

Mentor1 year agoThere are sellers who sell on both Amazon & ebay, keeping their inventory on Amazon. Both platforms are fine with this, What is NOT fine, is a seller listing an item on ebay, and when the item sells s/he goes to Amazon to purchase the item ans have it sent to the buyer. On your second Amazon shipment, was there a gift receipt? If so, then the seller used his/her Amazon prime account to make the purchase and have it sent to you. You can report it to Amazon.
