Purchasing GPS units on Ebay
Noticed that many units said TESTED or WORKING. That apparently just means that the screen comes on but does not mean that it functions. Have sent back one on Amazon and two on EBAY because they do not work. Seems units should be tested as fully functional before placed on EBAY to prevent headache of receiving and returning on customer end. Will not buy again unless tested as fully functional.

A seller that routinely describes items as "tested" but that does not actually test the items beyond turning them on is unlikely to last very long on eBay without receiving negative feedback when those untested items wind up not working and getting returned.
So if you limit your purchases to experienced sellers that have received positive feedback from actual buyers for selling similar items, and avoid new or infrequent sellers, or sellers that appear to be drop-shipping from unknown sources, or sellers with troubling patterns of negative feedback, or sellers that have suddenly changed selling behavior recently, you can minimize (though not entirely eliminate) your chances of having to invoke your eBay money back guarantee to return a non-working unit.
