Purchasing expensive items with a Paypal invoice directly. Is this a scam?
I am purchasing something very expensive from an individual with no other sales like it. But it is a really good deal if legit. The transaction is being requested directly through PayPal Invoice which is supposedly "good" for the seller. Is this a scam? How should I request the transaction BE processed to give me MAXIMUM PROTECTION fron fraud and losing this money if the item never arrives and or the seller tries to run out the clock and string me along until too late?

The seller has revealed their willingness to cheat eBay out of its fees. I doubt that they'll suddenly discover ethics if you have a problem with the item you receive ... assuming you receive something.
I'd be reluctant to deal further with this seller. However, you don't want a nonpayment strike on your account. You can pay through eBay and see what the seller does from there. You can still pay with PayPal ... BUT be sure you back the payment with a credit card. [Since you're fairly new to eBay, you need to have a backup method for getting refunded that lasts longer than 30 days. Actually, we ALL need a credit card as a backup method when possible.]

OP10 months agoYes, I found the listing on ebay and the seller was not able at first to do the invoice then suggested some other seller type service I've never heard of. I said not comfortable with that. So then the issue with the PayPal account was resolved and now wants to send me an invoice from PayPal.

Mentor10 months agoFirst, was the item actually listed on eBay? If not, then this is a scam. If the item was listed on eBay and the seller wants to send you a PayPal invoice then they are guilty of fee avoidance on eBay and can be reported. If you were to pay by the PayPal invoice then eBay will have nothing to do with the purchase and your only protection will be whatever PayPal offers.

OP10 months agoJacob, yes it was listed on ebay. But I was unfamiliar with this method of not having a pay button and going through a PayPal Invoice. Then after messaging he said THAT wasn't working and asked to pay through a zelle type pay platform and I NOPE. Then he said he got his PayPal working again and now the invoice is working.
