Purchasing an item for over 18

Question

Hi, can someone help me, I wanted to buy a table top saw, off course you have to be over 18, which I do understand, I’m 56 years old, my birthday is 19/10/1969, to verify you are over 18, eBay was asking for a credit card, I don’t have a credit and it doesn’t except a debit card, so it looks like I won’t be using eBay no more to buy items that are “over the age of 18” apart from getting a credit card which I don’t want get, is there another way

Hi @gwoo6181 I looked through the eBay UK forms to see if I could find something, and it looks like it's just a credit card they will take. I would assume its much more convenient on eBay's part

@gwoo6181 < to verify you are over 18, eBay was asking for a credit card, I don’t have a credit . . . is there another way > This is the U.S. site and I'm not very familiar with U.K. law, but I am familiar with this one because of many other threads asking the same question. I think there is no workaround, they're adamant about that proof of age. Could you go to the nearest B&Q and just buy one over the counter? You wouldn't want to buy a table saw from the U.S. anyway, the shipping expense would be astronomical. Maybe some other members in the U.K. would have suggestions, if you ask on the U.K. community pages. But if you do buy one on eBay, make sure that the seller is located in the same country where you are.
