Purchased an item, then the seller canceled the order.
I won the bid on a Boyds Bears Treasure Box (Lovely Lady Bug w Lucky McNibble). Paid for it within hours and received confirmation that the order was placed and the estimated delivery date. Several days later, I received a notice that "We were unable to cancel your order" from ebay. I did not cancel the order. I then heard from the seller that the "price was incorrectly marked" and my refund would be issued shortly. I DID NOT ASK for a refund or that the order be canceled. I asked the seller what was going on and was told a bunch of baloney and they said that the "min buyout was not placed on the item". During this time I was watching on ebay and the seller had relisted the item with a starting bid of $10.00 more. I feel that this was dishonest and the seller should stand up and deliver the item I paid for (have since received the return $$, I would rather have the item I bid on and won the bid). I it even legal for a seller to do this for a measly $10.00?

·2 years agoHi @jj88annie Yes, a seller can cancel an order and refund you like that. But eBay penalizes sellers with a defect against their seller performance requirements for cancelling, unless the buyer asks to cancel.
If the message from eBay says you asked to cancel, and you didn't, then the seller used a false reason to avoid the cancellation penalty.
You can report the seller for violating eBay's policies:

I see you've already left negative feedback, so there's nothing else you can do except report the seller.
