Purchase Price Plus Shipping - Shipping Price Not Received
The item I sold was for $119 + shipping. eBay says that the customer paid $119 + $19.86 shipping. However, that $19.86 for shipping was not factored into my transaction. When I printed the shipping label from eBay I paid $29.45. But my account shows that my total funds are $88.80 (the difference between my selling price of $119 and the label I paid for $29.45). Where is the $19.86 that was paid by the customer for shipping?

Mentor1 week agoI live in 92802, and the shipping shows $19.86 for that item. When I change the zip code to 10010, which is a lot closer to you, the shipping still shows $19.86. Therefore, you used flat rate shipping for that item, regardless of where the buyer lives. ebay takes your information of weight and dimensions as well as the buyer's zip code to calculate the shipping from your zip code to the buyer's zip code, which in this case was $29.45.
So the buyer paid $119.00 + $19.86 + sales tax. ebay sends you the $199 + $19.86 less the final value fee. When you go to print the shipping label, you had to enter the weight of the package plus the dimensions, and ebay calculated the shipping from your zip code to the buyer's zip code. In the future, you need to specify calculated shipping for your items so you do not end up paying out of pocket.

That sounds frustrating.
In short, I believe you have overlooked the eBay Final Value Fee for selling the item. Also as @rfmtm suggested, use Calculated Shipping so you don't lose $10 on that.
Estimated:
119.00 Price
19.86 Shipping paid by buyer
??.?? Sales Tax
138.86 Paid by buyer
-29.45 Actual Shipping cost paid by you
- ??.?? Sales Tax
-20.61 eBay Final value Fee (estimated based on your numbers)
88.80 balance
From your gross sales (Price + Shipping, if any + Sales Tax) eBay will deduct
Sales Tax (remitted to the state)
Shipping labels
Final Value Fees FVF
Insertion fees (if any)
Promoted listing fees (if any)
Store Fees (if any)
etc.
Here is a help page where you can learn about selling fees:
https://www.ebay.com/help/selling/fees-credits-invoices/selling-fees?id=4822
All of the deductions should be listed here:
https://www.ebay.com/sh/fin/transactions
If you use the App, here is where to find your transactions and payouts
Click Selling icon
>Payments
>>See all activity
>>>Click the Payout and review the 'related transactions' list

OP1 week agoThank you very much for that explanation, AND for doing the math that I understood better. I forgot to deduct the eBay fee. And I probably could have done better with the shipping. Thank you

You're most welcome! I'm glad it was helpful. Come back anytime you have a question about eBay.

Mentor1 week agoThe buyer pays you the total you have in the listing, which includes cost of item and what you put in for shipping. Then you pay for the actual postage, which may be more or less. If you keep coming up short, you need to change how you are charging the buyer for shipping. Would need more details to comment further.

OP1 week agoI listed it as $119 + shipping. So (1) did eBay sell it as $100+shipping, or (2) did the label itself cost $29.45?
