I wanted a USB trackball. One listing from Canada was $9, with $14 shipping--cheaper than the others at $18.88 with $5 shipping. But on delivery UPS demanded additional $38.50 fees! Nobody would pay another $39 for a $9 item, UPS took it away. Tracking says "delivered"--that is to a United Parcel Service dock in Missouri, where it is being held for $22 ransom/extortion. I called UPS, was given an email address to ask for fees to be waived--they replied saying "contact this different address". I did, no reply. Sent a SECOND email to the second address, carbon-copied to the first--no reply.
This is a USED ITEM, same as buying from a garage sale, there should be no tariffs/fees.
I opened a case, ebay said "CASE CLOSED, YOU CAN PICK IT UP AT THE CARRIER". Right, in MISSOURI, two states away, forking over another 22 bucks? I appealed, answer was immediate, "WE CANNOT CHANGE THE OUTCOME".
Seller will get the trackball back. And seller KEEPS my $24, all of it. I get--nothing. Why is this ACCEPTABLE to ebay?
Now I can no longer contact ebay about this. I will leave negative feedback to the seller, but it will be REMOVED because it's "offensive". Been there done that.
Anyone have a suggestion of what I'm supposed to do, other than "kiss off and go away"?

Looking at the item it shows eBay international shipping and canada post tracked. I am guessing you paid for canada post tracked? But the seller shipped UPS?

OP4 months agoItem number is 177156959281--says, "returns not accepted". UPS will not keep it forever, and will not throw it away; I'm sure it will be returned to the seller, who will continue to keep the $23 that I paid, less tax and what he spent on shipping and seller's premium. Is there anyone i the world who thinks this is fair to me?
Seller's message in the case was,
"Sorry but I’m not willing to take a loss in this. My part
as the seller was fulfilled. UPS delivered the item. It was
refused due to tariffs being applied to the item. UPS took
the item back into their system and it has been lost. The
item has not been returned to me. "
Nearly 40 bucks fee on a $9, is not a "tariff", it is insane, nobody would pay that (especially when another trackball is available without crossing borders for <$20). Reducing the fee to $22 "if I drive to UPS and pick it up myself" is still an outrage.
It's not lost, I'm 100% sure they will send it back to the seller, who will probably relist it and sell to the next victim, who obviously if he's in America will also refuse to pay $39 extortion. Wonder how many times this item can be sold, every buyer losing money?
Seller predicted ebay would not do anything--oh they did something, essentially telling me "TOUGH TOENAILS YOU THREW AWAY YOUR MONEY AND WE'RE NOT GOING TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT".
