Problems with items shipped through the Global Shipping Program not reaching United Kingdom address
I have been communicating with a person I shipped a small parcel to through eBay's global shipping program over a month ago. Tracking keeps showing 'out for delivery'. It appears from talking with the buyer that because of the Royal Mail employees being on strike, eBay contracted with a private shipper called Evri. From calling them, the buyer learned that the package had been put out to be put on a truck to be delivered but the truck did not pick it up. This happened three times, which I guess they consider three attempts at delivery even though the package was never delivered, and even though it seems that the delivery man, the person suposedly driving the truck that was to carry the package to the buyer's address never even attempted to take the package to the buyer's address. Now they say the package is on its way back to me. I messaged back and forth with the buyer and suggested that they open up a 'item not received' case and then I suggested that they check with the eBay community in the United Kingdom to see if other buyers were having the same problem. It appears from what the buyer has passed on to me that this is a widespread problem. I don't think the seller should have to refund with their own money when the seller did everything properly, shipping through the global shipping program in a timely manner. My question is this. Are any of you sellers who ship packages to the United Kingdom through the global shipping program having the same problem? If so, eBay must be made aware that this problem is widespread. My buyer is also reporting another package that did not arrive and she is also waiting for two more but they are still in the normal time period for a package to be out. It is turning the buyer off from buying through eBay again.

·3 years agoIf the buyer does open an item not received case, you should contact eBay customer support and confirm with them that this was a Global Shipping Program problem. They should handle the refund, not you. Your responsibility ended when the item reached the eBay shipping portal.

OP3 years agoThank you for commenting. The buyer and I are good, he opened up the item not received case as I told him too. He knew that I would not be held responsible for his refund, but that eBay would take care of it. The buyer has been a pleasure to deal with in this case and may try to re-purchase it if and when the item gets back to me as it is supposed to be doing. But that was not the question I put to the community here. I asked the selling community if anyone else had had the same problem with sales to the United Kingdom during this Royal Mail strike where eBay has contracted with a private currier company. The reason I asked that is because my buyer went on his eBay Community page and found other buyers in the United Kingdom were also having problems getting their packages. So, this seems to be a widespread problem. I just thought reaching out to the community here, would help me to figure out more specifically the extent of the problem. If a lot of sellers were also having trouble getting their packages to their United Kingdom buyers, then eBay should definitely be alerted so they could deal with the private currier to find out from them why packages are not getting delivered to good addresses. In my buyer's case, the driver who was supposed to pick up the package from the shipping center to take it on its final trip to my buyer's home, never did, even though it was put out for him on three occasions. My buyer even went as far as finding out the driver's name. There are two different driver's that deliver packages to her address, one always brings her packages in a timely manner and the other one does not.
