Problem with listing a car for sale?
How do you chat with a real person to resolve why Ebay will not allow my listing to post- keeps saying my VIN is invalid. I have checked the VIN multiple times and the car has a valid/clean DMV title.

Is your vehicle pre-1980, not originally made for street use, or manufactured outside of North America?
If so, it may have a "non-standard" VIN - See #2 below
1) If your VIN is rejected, it may be because:
- There was a typo in the info you entered. For example, a zero (0) may look like the uppercase letter "O" so double-check your entry
- You left out a number or letter. A VIN has 17 characters so make sure it’s complete.
- The vehicle’s model year is older than 1981, which doesn’t have a standard VIN
- The vehicle was made outside the US and wasn’t intended for use in the US
- The vehicle is a "kit car" or a limited production vehicle that doesn't have a standard VIN
- The vehicle’s title status is incorrect when you list it. For example, if the car is salvaged and you list it as something else, it may be rejected.
2) If you entered the correct VIN and it’s still rejected, follow these steps:
- In the listing form, select the vehicle’s year from the Year drop-down menu.
- Enter 17 zeros in the VIN field. Seventeen 0
- In the item description, you must enter the following information or the listing may be removed:
-- The vehicle’s actual VIN
-- The reason you listed your vehicle using all of the same number in your VIN
- AND include a clear photo of the VIN plate in the auction.

“If the VIN isn't recognized by our systems, the actual VIN MUST be included in the item description with an explanation as to why it wasn't accepted, such as:
- The vehicle was manufactured for a model year before 1980
- The vehicle was manufactured outside of North America
- The vehicle wasn't intended for street-legal useâ€

OP1 year agoThank you for your help! After tearing through records, I found that my Va DMV actually put the incorrect VIN on the title and registration- it has been that way for 25 years and nobody had every noticed it! Most helpful was the advice about posting the VIN in a picture.
Again, thank you for your help as I cannot find anywhere to actually contact a person at Ebay for help.
