Problem getting EBay to step in and help
Summary: easy419 expressed frustration with the difficulty of getting eBay to intervene in an unresolved issue with a seller who sent an incorrect item and failed to provide a replacement. eburtonlab advised on the proper return process and timelines, emphasizing the importance of initiating a case within eBay's guidelines to have eBay step in. easy419 acknowledged the advice, realizing the mistake of not complaining sooner, and thanked eburtonlab for the information.
How am I supposed to get help with resolving an issue with a seller when I am not provided a button to click for EBay to step in and help, as instructed? I am very frustrated because it seems EBay is purposefully making it difficult to report this issue. I followed all the protocols and there is a string of respectful messages with me and the seller. Yet my issue remains unresolved. I received an incorrect item and the seller said he would send the correct item which I am still waiting for weeks later. I receive USPS notification as soon as a label is created, and I never received a 2nd notification from the seller. The money is a small amount, but the principle is huge to me.

If you started your return case in the time allowed, you should be able to ask eBay to step in after three business days for up to twenty-one business days here:
https://www.ebay.com/help/buying/returns-refunds/ask-ebay-step-help-buyers?id=4701
Never let the seller's promise of a replacement delay you from starting your case or from asking eBay to step in; always request your refund within thirty days. If the replacement arrives you can always close your case. If the replacement arrives after you are refunded, you can arrange to make a payment to the seller or to return the item at the seller's expense.

OP1 month agoSo, if more than 21 days has past, I am out of luck? I was doing what I thought EBay preferred me to do, and that is communicating with the buyer. Had I known what you just wrote me, I would have complained right away. I get the message. No reply needed. Thank you.
