printing postage; getting dinged
On my last two outgoing orders, I think eBay servers dinged me, first about two dollars and then; about 75 cents, on the second one. Also, on the second one, it defaulted to the USPS option, when the buyer had paid for the better FedEx one rate option, this caused confusion at the FedEx counter, and resulted in me having to learn to void a label (hope I do get my 7.88 back). My theory, is that the servers were getting retribution on me for being slightly off, in either weight or dimensions of previous order labels, I understand that they aren't personal, but such direct action could be coded; what do you think?

OP1 year agoNow I see, in the second case, that the price has changed in the amount of 0.74; I still believe I got dinged on the first case, but since the difference, noticed was from January 2, date of sale to January 3, date of shipment maybe; I'm all wrong?

By the above, I can see how the point of sale on the first shipping label (USPS Ground Advantage, zone 5-8) was subject to 1.25 surcharged for holidays, but; I noticed the difference being more than that. Let's say that the buyer as of January 2, was charged the surcharge, even then, I was held to the 12.46 that the buyer paid, and maybe that was right, as; I determined that the item itself weighed 11.2# (I declared boxed as 12#) and the dimensional weight was 4#. I maintain that I would have been able to purchase the label on January 2, for about ~= to $10.21, and; that is my gripe! It seems, I regularly lose on shipping even though, in this case; I broke even...I'm starting to put one dollar handling, on all auctions now, instead of trying to make a dollar on shipping, probably; the real problem all along...I typically, would have guessed a couple pounds heavy and a generous box at calculated shipping details and subsequently, revised down, as appropriate, at checkout; with the shipping label. I did FREE shipping for awhile, and it seemed to just cost; me! I don't think a single sale went better price-point for it, although; I did see an increase in cross-the-country sales.
