Pricing an item
In my research on eBay and other sites for an item I usually sell between $15-30, the only other exact item is presently listed for $400+. My item doesn’t qualify for authentication, so how do I know how much my item is actually worth? Should I list for a price considerably less than the $400? Put it on auction? If auction, what starting bid? Thanks for any help.

One good rule of thumb is you Buy it now price OR starting Auction price should be at LEAST high enough to cover you cost, eBay fees and most importantly, YOUR profit margin.
After you determine that but there is still some room on what items actually SOLD for then you can go a little higher.
I don't pay as much attention to what things are listed for but what the SOLD for. When you search for something and get a returned list look on the left side of the page and scroll down to the Sold box and check that. The list will update to what has sold in the last 90 days, prices are green. Prices with a strike through line means they sold on an offer and actual sale price is unknown.

l too look at Solds for determining my listing price but this was a single item and none listed on the sold side. Thank you for your help. I haven’t decided what to do yet.
