Price Gouging
Dear Friends,
I have been a member of ebay ever since there was an ebay, but I have never seen price gouging as bad as it is now! Ones like me that have been around a long time knows better, but novice ones like my granddaughter could easily become a victum of such dishonesty!
A good example; I found a pair of large, sterling silver hoop earrings, nothing special, for $329.05! Those same earring are selling for $29.00, by genuine sellers. Who in their right mind would pay over $50.00 for such earrings? An ounce of silver is not that pricey!
I know of persons who would pay over $300.00 for those earrings, thinking that they are receiving something special, when in reality they are receiving a pair of sterling silver hoop earring that before the Pandemic sold for $19.99! Some greedy-minded seller is trying to get, $329.05 out of maybe young or elderly persons! Ebay needs to put a stop to such ones because, "Price Gouging," is Stealing!
PS: I tried to post a picture of the hoop earrings, but ebay would not allow me!

Price gouging is inflating the price of critical items during a catastrophe (like masks during COVID, water, batteries, and plywood due to a hurricane or tornado, etc.)
For other items, sellers in America set their own pricing and buyers should be doing their comparison shopping before they buy. This has always been the case (the expression "caveat emptor," buyer beware, has been around since the 1600s. And I'm sure similar expressions have been around longer than that).
I'm not condoning sellers over-pricing their items, but there will always be people around to take advantage of others. Hopefully your granddaughter is above the minimum age requirement of 18 years old to use eBay. If so, you can educate her on what to look for when making a purchase, on eBay or anywhere else. Everyone has to learn these things from someone and what better place than from a knowledgeable family member.
