Price Change
hello,
can a seller increase the price of an item mid way through the listing or does the listing have to expire first then they can up the price. I was sending offers on an item and then the price was higher. My offer was declined twice then the price increased. I was also wondering why the seller rejects offers that are very close to the original asking price. Why do they even list it with accepting offers?? Makes no sense to me

Mentor2 weeks agoAs long as there are no bids or outstanding offers, a seller can indeed increase the price. ebay automatically adds Best Offer to some listings, thinking they are helping the seller. This is unknown to many sellers, which is why they decline offers that are close to the fixed price they have listed.

Sellers are allowed to raise prices of fixed-price active listings if there are no outstanding offers. Few sellers would be willing to list volatile items on eBay if sellers could not respond to changes in the market by changing their prices.
Sellers are not required to accept any offers, even offers that are close to the buy-it-now price. Some sellers allow offers because they want to see what sorts of offers buyers make; some sellers allow offers because they believe (without much justification) that doing so makes a listing appear higher in search ranking; some sellers only accept offers under certain conditions that may not have been met by your offer. Some sellers allow offers because eBay makes that the default setting in some situations.
