Preferred PayPal choice
When I buy from EBAY and pay with PayPal, I do not get a chance to pick which of my cards to use. I want to REMOVE my "preferred" card. I want t to be asked which card to use. A Default, is fine, but I need the Change> option. Otherwise, it completes the purchase without telling me which card is being used.

Mentor8 months agoIf you mean that when you check out of eBay and select PayPal, you are not able to choose a specific payment method in your PayPal wallet but one is automatically selected for you, in that case go to your eBay Payments page in your eBay account and delete the entry for PayPal that appears there.

The next time you check out on eBay and choose PayPal, you should be sent to your PayPal wallet page and given a chance to pick a specific payment method.

OP8 months agoThanks, yes that's what I mean.
Delete and Readd the card? Wow? Really?
How about just specifying how it is to be paid (which card or account) next to the PayPal option and adding a "change>" option that gives a chance to pick a specific payment method?
I do not suggest that PayPal does not have the programming capability to do this. Are they simply lazy, don't listen to customers, or don't ask them?
You might think that at the very least, they would allow a user to have NO preferred card so that the question was asked? Although, I am sure many people would like to use the preferred card by default MOST of the time if they had the flexibility to change it per transaction.
Well they don't even have a real "contact" on the "Contact Us" page on their website, so I guess they don't care. They're making enough money. Why give the customer what they want?

No, delete the PayPal entry on your eBay Payments page. Do not add anything.
As long as there is no PayPal entry, when you check out you can choose the payment method on your PayPal wallet page.
To contact eBay, use the chat assistant to request a call back by starting on the Help & Contact page and following the links for your issue.
What options you see may depend on your particular issue and how busy that department is at the moment.
Try entering "agent" into the chat window. You may have to provide some context to reach the correct department. If you see a "Still need help?" or "More options" choice, either of those should lead to a call back option.
If you are unable to get a call back, try contacting eBay via social media direct message:

OP8 months agoThanks for the quick response.
Well, those instructions are not clear (or even present) on the checkout page.
Chatbot? No thanks. My experience has been that they are a complete waste of time that simply refer you to information that you could find with a website search.
"Social" media? Ha! I use none of those venues. Sorry, I'm a boomer with real friends with whom I meet and talk.
Thanks anyway.

OP8 months agoThat's a kludgy work-around that potentially requires deleting Paypal as a payment option EVERY transaction. It's a bad solution. Please escalate this issue as the program needs to change to allow a person to change the payment method within paypay on EVERY transaction. Just as a person has a default shipping address which they have the option to change, when a person wants to pay with PayPal, they should have the option to pick a specific PayPal method such as personal card, business card, paypal balance, bank account, etc.

You only need to delete that entry once as long as you don't add PayPal back as a payment method "for auctions and offers"; if prompted for a payment method in advance for an auction or offer, use a credit card for that if you can. Otherwise you will have to add and delete that PayPal entry again.
I use PayPal for all my buy-it-now purchases, and I choose my payment method at the time of purchase each time, having only deleted that PayPal entry once. Works for me. Your mileage may vary.
Please escalate this issue
